The November election is in the distance, but candidates in the 22nd Congressional District have been at odds for months.

On Monday, Republican Congresswoman Claudia Tenney was in her district talking about corruption in Albany.

Using the recent verdicts in the Buffalo Billion trial as an example, Tenney said her Democratic opponent Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, has remained silent.

She said he has a record of enabling the corruption epidemic by supporting people like Sheldon Silver and Alain Kaloyeros.

"Going out and standing there and championing the governor at one of his very spectacular dog and pony shows where all this money is brought in, and he stands there, and guess what happens in the end: nothing. We have now public corruption trials to show for it," Tenney said.

Anthony Brindisi said, "I've voted for laws to strip corrupt public officials of their pensions. I have supported legislation to get money out of politics and have taken a stand in this congressional campaign not to accept any corporate special interest money towards my campaign, which I can't say the same for the congresswoman."

Brindisi said he's been a leader on ethics reform in the state. He added that Tenney should focus on fighting Washington corruption.

Tenney wants the House to pass the No Pensions for Corrupt Politicians and Upholding Integrity of Public Officials Acts.
