SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Renovations are giving Syracuse children a new place to play.
The Shonnard Street Boys & Girls Club reopened Monday.
Donations from the Eaton Crouse-Hinds foundation helped fund the project.
The unveiling featured Syracuse Coach Jim Boehiem and former Orange players.
For some, the gym opening has special meaning.
"I grew up around here, I went to the Boys & Girls Club," said Brandon Triche, former SU Star and Jamesville-DeWitt Grad. "So just trying to figure out your goals and figure out your path, I think it’s great for kids to do that at a young age."
Other players from Boehiem's Army played basketball with kids at the club.
They say the excitement kids have for basketball reminds them of themselves at a younger age.
