A town in Madison County is paying tribute to a local piece of history.

In 1945, a B-17 or Flying Fortress plane crash-landed near Nelson Farms. The crew was training when they got caught in a snowstorm. Eight people were on the plane and almost all were able to jump out, but one person died.

Now nearly 75 years later, people who live there are hoping to keep that history alive.

"It's like this huge plane in this tiny town and everybody rallies together to help the crew. It really is a big part of our nelson history," said Erieville resident, Kevin Kennedy.

The Erieville Historical Society is putting out an in-depth publication about the crash in January.
