The Mohawk Valley Health System Health and Wellness Expo is usually held at Mohawk Valley Community College in July, but with school in session, Boilermaker Road Race staff are setting up at the expo at Sangertown Square in New Hartford.

“When runners come here, they come for really two primary reasons, normally: To get their race bibs, and to get their race incentives. Everything else we do is to enhance the experience for everyone,” Boilermaker President Mark Donovan said.

The expo will have vendors and food, though, instead of food trucks, there will be a food court located in the middle of the expo.

What You Need To Know

  • The MVHS Health and Wellness Expo takes place at Sangertown Square this year

  • The expo isn’t happening at the college because classes are in session

  • While COVID-19 vaccination is required for Boilermaker racers, it is not required for the general public to attend the expo

“We’ll have tables and chairs set up for people to sit and relax,” Donovan said.

He says he and the Boilermaker crew have been busy at the site every day for at least a month, cleaning and preparing.

“We had a lot of work to do in terms of figuring out where to put people, where could we put people, how many vendors are going to attend and what would be the proper flow and layout,” he said.

If you’re planning on visiting, you should enter by using the door facing the Seneca Turnpike.

Runners need to head left to show a proof of COVID-19 vaccination, then pass by a career fair to pick up your bib. Located down a little further are the race incentives.

The rest of the open space is dedicated to a food court, race sponsors and vendors.

“People are free to move about themselves and the doorway, as you can see far over there, is the exit,” Donovan said.

The doorway to the rest of the mall will not be open.

The expo is noon to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

While vaccination is required for race participants, it is not required for the general public to enter the expo.
