BUFFALO, N.Y. — You may see rainbow flags, stickers, and other signs of pride. June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

There’s a lot in store this weekend. The Buffalo Pride Parade starts at Elmwood and Forest Avenue at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Pat Sandora-Nastyn, marketing manager for Evergreen Health, says this is the biggest parade yet with 250 groups taking part this year. After the parade, there will be a Pride Festival at Canalside that starts at 1 p.m. There will be food and drink vendors, community vendors, drag talent performances and more. This year’s theme is “Show Up and Turn Up.”

"Pride Month is really important for representation,” Sandora-Nastyn said. “And Pride Week here in Buffalo is a chance for everyone, however, you feel represented in the LGBTQ+ community, to be seen. I think representation is so important for folks to see other people like them out and about living their lives authentically and freely. So Pride is the opportunity for folks to show up, and to turn up and celebrate."
