Former Syracuse mayor Stephanie Miner has confirmed to Spectrum News' Iris St. Meran that she will not run for the Congressional seat currently held by Rep. John Katko.

Miner, a Democrat, announced Thursday that she was considering a run for governor, according to the New York Times. Miner served in City Hall until her term ended at the end of 2017. She was succeeded by current Mayor Ben Walsh.

Miner, a former ally of Governor Andrew Cuomo, resigned as his state party chair after disagreeing on local government and pension policy.
