It took a little longer than expected, but a lane shift is now in place on Interstate 690 in Syracuse.

Construction crews completed the move around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. Tea

Now, east and westbound traffic are up and moving with two lanes of traffic.

A stretch of Teall Avenue will also be closed to traffic Tuesday through Thursday while a portion of the bridge is removed.

To avoid potential backups, the Department of Transportation suggests getting on and off the 690 at Midler Avenue.

This is the second phase of a construction project in the works for more than a year now.

Phase one was completed at the end of May, as crews finished up a complete reconstruction of 690 West over Teall Avenue and new on and off ramps.

Overnight crews made the switch, clearing traffic off the eastbound side of the highway so they can do the same thing on 690 East.

Construction on the project is expected to be complete by the end of this year.
