ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Bills exceeded expectations last season by ending the 17-year playoff drought.

But Sean McDermott said this off-season that it's time to turn the page.

That's exactly what the team's done at the most important position.

Tyrod Taylor's three-year run as the starting QB is over and now it's a three-man competition to replace him.

While it's reasonable to believe Josh Allen will be better long-term than Taylor, it's just as reasonable to think Allen, AJ McCarron or Nathan Peterman will be a lesser option immediately.

And that's where the truest question comes from: does ending the drought take off the pressure to keep winning now?

McDermott and Brandon Beane have said no while also acknowledging there's still plenty of work to do in their vision to build a consistent winner.

Much like a year ago, it appears they'll try and win now while building for the future at the same time.

Either way, expect to continue to hear the phrases "trust the process" and "growth mindset" regardless of whether the Bills see January football once again.
