The high school basketball season is underway, and one player isn’t just making a splash for Liverpool, he’s going to make waves throughout Section III.

The next big thing has very big feet.

Andreo Ash wears a size 17 shoe. That’s a size you can’t find in any store.

“I got to order all my sneakers, all my clothes,” Ash said. “It’s difficult to find things at times.”

What You Need To Know

  • A Liverpool sophomore already has offers from Stony Brook and Bryant

  • Andreo Ash is 6-foot-7, weighs more than 200 pounds, and wears a size 17 sneaker

  • Ash is hoping to hear from North Carolina, alma mater of his favorite player, Michael Jordan

It’s easy to spot Ash at Liverpool practice. He’s one of the tallest guys out there.

“Last year I was 6-5, I think, and was like 184,” Ash said. “Now I’m 6-7, and more than 200 now.”

And he’s still growing, because he’s only a sophomore.

"Hopefully I get like, 6-9, 6-10," Ash said.

It’s not just his frame that makes him stand out.

“For someone with his size to be that young, his footwork and his fundamentals are solid,” Liverpool coach Ryan Blackwell said. “He reminds me of a young Tim Duncan.”

“It happened a lot when I was younger,” Ash said. “I worked on stuff like that. I kept getting better with it.”

Schools are taking notice. Ash already has offers from Stony Brook and Bryant.

“When it happened I was really surprised. I picked up my phone, I was outside playing, then I got the offer and I was so excited," Ash said.

One day, he hopes to hear from Michael Jordan’s alma mater.

“North Carolina has always been my favorite team, so they’re the goal that I want to reach," Ash said.

If Jordan is his favorite player, why not wear number 23?

“I really wanted to wear 23, but they didn’t have it in my size, so, 32 … I like 32, though," Ash said.
