On Sunday, expect some snow showers to fire up during the morning, eventually mixing in with some rain as we go through the afternoon particularly at lower elevations.  Slushy accumulations of a trace to 3 or 4 inches are possible across higher terrain by day’s end, including on the Tug Hill Plateau.  High temperatures will once again be above average.

Highs Sunday:

  • Central New York: 34 - 39
  • Northern New York: 32 - 38, coldest in the Adirondacks
  • Southern Tier: 35 - 40

Sunday night into Monday, some lake and terrain enhancement will contribute to additional snow showers.  Several additional inches of snowfall are likely across higher terrain east of Lake Ontario, specifically the Tug Hill Plateau, by early Monday morning.  Totals on the Tug Hill by early Monday morning will range from about 5 to 9 inches.  Minor accumulations are possible elsewhere across Central New York and the Southern Tier. Highs on Monday will be in the mid-30s.

A few lingering snow showers or flurries are possible on Tuesday with some dry breaks in the mix as well.  Highs will turn colder, only reaching the 20s to near 30.

Dry conditions are expected region-wide Wednesday through Friday.  Temperatures will be more seasonable, in the upper-20s and low-30s for daytime highs.

Models are currently in disagreement on what to expect for next weekend, but if our recent trend of active weekends continues, we can likely expect increased precipitation chances.  We will keep you posted.
