MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — A Middletown man is dead after police say he crashed his car late Tuesday night.

Police say the 23-year-old lost control of his vehicle in the area of West Main Street near Maple Hill.

They say his car then struck several trees and a telephone pole before then hitting another car head-on.

Police say the driver was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, although an autopsy and toxicology report has yet to be performed.

The driver of the other car was not injured.
