PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Police believe that Asiyanna Jones, who died from a gunshot wound to the head, was caught in crossfire and say the man believed to have pulled the trigger remains at large.

Jones, 22, was found on October 2 wounded inside a car on Dewey Avenue in Pittsfield. She died just hours later.

According to court documents, police spoke with two unidentified witnesses, who said Josaiah Bynum shot at Gary Linen. Police allege Linen, 36, returned fire, and shot Jones.

Bynum, 19, has since pleaded not guilty to armed assault to murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building and carrying a firearm without a license.

Police are still looking for Linen, who is expected to face similar charges.

Police say shots were fired near Dewey Avenue hours after the initial incident. It’s unclear if the two crimes are connected, but in the second incident, Justin Crawford, 20, was arrested on drug and weapons charges.
