Leaders in Westchester County are demanding action at Indian Point.

The county Board of Legislators has released a bill that would call for the hiring of a thousand workers.

They say these employees should be used to help in the decommissioning process at the energy center.

Those workers would then be used to assist in the redevelopment of the area.

Indian point is expected to be shut down entirely as early as 2021, with possibly hundreds of workers in Dutchess County losing their jobs.

The bill was first introduced back in June but, has not been passed by the full county board.
