SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: With the Olympics coming to a close this weekend, historian Matt Malette and Mike Allen trekked to the North Country to find out if it's true that bobsledding was created right here in Albany. 

In the mid 1800s, lumberjacks would load their wood onto sleds and the laws of motion would do the rest, sending the lumber to the bottom of the hill.

People started to notice that these sleds might be fun to ride on, and maybe not just for lumber. And thus a sport was born, well sort of.
