ORLANDO, Fla. — Bills General Manager Brandon Beane didn't know the Jets, his divisional foe, were making a trade up to the third overall pick, but says he wasn't surprised. As for how it affects his plan on draft day, Beane is continuing on his own path.

"You really have a lot of discussions with teams on all sorts of things. A lot of times you get into tangents that you didn't even think you'd talk about. I'm not going to get into specifics, but we're right now just focused on 12,” said Beane.

That doesn't mean Beane will stay at 12, saying he's willing to go as far as shipping away next year's first round pick to move up and select a franchise guy.

"If it makes us a lot better or it's a player that would be worthy of that, yes. We'll do anything we can to make our roster better. I'm not locked in that ‘I would’ or ‘I wouldn't.’ It would have to make sense and have to be a player that we really felt strongly about to do that,” said Beane.

As for the current roster, Beane fully expects Zay Jones to remain a part of it despite an arrest last week following a bizarre altercation with his brother in Los Angeles that caused $20,000 in damages. No charges were filed against the wideout due to insufficient evidence, and Jones has been in contact with the team following the incident.

"Sean [McDermott] and I did speak with Zay after everything settled down. He'll be back in Buffalo soon and it's an unfortunate situation, is probably the best way to phrase it. It was a private conversation between me, Sean and Zay and just going to leave it there. From us, we're just here to help Zay and work with him and get him back in town and just get things settled with him,” said Beane.

He expects the league to investigate the incident, but has no time-table on any possible punishment.
