ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A former medical student has filed a sexual assault and harassment lawsuit against her former University of Rochester Medical Center residency supervisor, the U of R, and Strong Hospital.

She's seeking $30 million in damages.

In state supreme court documents filed in January, Katia Kaplan-List accuses Dr. Johan Blickman, professor of pediatrics and URMC faculty member, of drugging her, raping her and blackmailing her by threatening to sabotage her career and give her a failing grade if she reported anything to authorities.

In the lawsuit, Kaplan-List claims Blickman implied he wanted to have his his ex-wife killed.

Kaplan-List claims Blickman's employer, the U of R and Strong Hospital, are liable for Blickman's actions by reason of negligence and carelessness in management, security, training and supervision.

No where in the lawsuit does it indicate that she notified U of R, Strong or the Rochester Police Department about the assault and rape allegations.

URMC says that Kaplan-List's attorney notified Strong about Blickman's alleged inappropriate relationship two years after she was at the U of R and took action based on those findings. Last week, the University says it received a complaint with new, detailed allegations against Blickman. He is now on paid-leave.

Evans Fox LLP, a law firm representing Dr. Blickman, issued a statement Thursday evening in response to the allegations levied by Kaplan-List.

"The defamatory allegations of inappropriate and criminal conduct alleged by Dr. Kaplan-List against Dr. Blickman are patently untrue, vehemently denied, and appear to be an attempt by Dr. Kaplan-List to use the current social climate to gain a financial windfall."
