ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police announced an arrest Sunday in the fatal hit-and-run of a motorcyclist on Lake Avenue earlier this month.

Authorities arrested 47-year-old Monroe County resident Jason Kennard. He has been charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death.

He is accused of hitting James Garbach, 23, on May 10.

Garbach died two days later at Strong Memorial Hospital.

"We believe that the charges are appropriate at this time," said prosecutor Alison Camp. "It reflects the investigation. I am not going to comment any more than that on the nature of the charges. It was the Rochester Police Department's investigation and it has lead to this arraignment."

Prosecutors say Kennard has a prior grand larceny conviction. He was arraigned in Rochester City Court Monday morning, where he pleaded not guilty. His bail was set at $10,000 cash or $30,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
