A Northeast neighborhood in Rochester is mourning the loss of a 16-year-old killed in a dirt bike accident Wednesday evening.

Friends gathered at a roadside memorial on Randolph Street where police say Ricardo Ubinas, Jr. was killed when his dirt bike hit the back of a parked car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Friends say Ubinas was a great kid and an only child who constantly wore a smile. He attended Wilson Magnet High School where grief counselors were made available for students Thursday.

The Rochester Police Department issued a warning last week about the dangers of riding dirt bikes on city streets.

Police continue to investigate the cause of Wednesday's crash.

Just across the street from where the accident occurred is a Peace Garden, a place where people can plant flowers to honor those who have lost their lives.

The founder of the garden has invited the family of Ricardo Ubinas to plant flowers in his memory.
