WEBSTER, N.Y.-- A dream came true for a Webster teen this week, all thanks to his love for music.

20-year-old Dylan Fenti says he’s played the piano for as long as he can remember.

“When I was first born, my mom looked at my fingers and actually predicted they’d be piano fingers. And sure enough, she was right.” Fenti said. “I get to show people what I love to do, my passion.”

And its that passion for music that brought him to Camp ROC Star, where he now volunteers.

“It gives kids an opportunity to know what it feels like to be a rock star," Camp founder Elvio Fernandes said. "What we do is we form bands, they learn from pros and they get to play a show.”

Fernandes is a bandmember of Daughtry, and says he founded Camp ROC Star all because of kids like Dylan.

“He’s very supportive, very enthusiastic," Fernandes said. "And not only did this program bring joy to him and give him opportunities to further his music, but he brought so much joy to us, and he’s what it’s all about.”

Dylan is on the autism spectrum, but Fernandes says that doesn’t hold him back.

“He never ever, ever made excuses, never brought up he is autistic or may have some challenges," Fernandes said. "He fights through it, he gets it done, but he does it with a smile on his face. And in a way that brings joy to everyone around him, and to me, he’s an inspiration.”

And every year, Dylan asks Fernandes the same question.

“Usually every year, at some point, Dylan will come up to me and go, Elvio have you met Steven Tyler?” Fernandes said.

So when Fernandes heard Dylan was seeing Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler in Buffalo this week, he knew he had to do something.

“It turns out Steven’s guitar player, Marty Frederickson, is a friend of Chris Daughtry’s, and they’ve written songs together," Fernandes said. "So I reached out to Chris and I said, Chris, we got to make something happen for this kid. He deserves this.”

And they did. Next thing Dylan knows, he and his mom are being brought to the VIP area of the concert.

“We were standing there for a while, and I started getting nervous because I didn’t know what was going on," Fenti said. "And then I started to realize, I think some kind of surprise is occurring, did I miss something?”

And then, the magic: stage side.

“It was awesome, I got to be right there.” Fenti said.

But the surprises didn’t end there. He even got to meet Tyler after.

“Did that really just happen? Like, I was on Cloud Nine, and I said I’m probably going to feel like this for the rest of the week," Fenti said. "It’s awesome, dream come true.”

Fernandes was overcome by the concert photos.

“I get emotional now just talking about it, to be honest with you," Fernandes said. "I know how much it means to him, and I knew how much joy it would bring to him, but I wanted him to know how much joy he’s brought to me and this program, which is why it had to happen.”
