ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The annual two-day Gus Macker basketball tournament brings hundreds of players and fans to downtown Rochester. This year, players, fans and officials all came prepared for high temps.

Parents said that they brought water, fans and fruit for their athletes, while officials caught some shade during breaks. The tournament also brought in a sprinkler for players to cool off between games.

Athletes were monitored by officials for signs of heat-related illness throughout the weekend.

"We've been watching the players to see if they're dehydrated. One guy yesterday had a cramp but he came back. He got a little water and got back in the game," said Rick Ottman, an official from Henrietta.
