The Bills continue to sing high praise of Tremaine Edmunds, even with his future in with the team in doubt.
“It’s been fun to watch him grow,” head coach Sean McDermott said. “He was such a young player when we first got him out of the draft and he’s still a young player with his age. To watch him mature and grow on the field, off the field has been a true joy as a coach. I can tell you that. He’s a class act and comes from a great family.”
All that said, the team finds themselves days away from potentially seeing Edmunds sign with another team if the Bills don’t reach a new deal with the linebacker themselves.
“You never replace a person or a player like Tremaine Edmunds,” McDermott said. “We just got to take it one day at a time and see how it all fits together here.”
Should Edmunds exit, one internal replacement option is last year’s third round pick Terrel Bernard, whose limited playing time as a rookie was at outside linebacker.
“He played middle [linebacker] in college, so that’s on the table,” McDermott said. “He’s shown to this point that he’s extremely smart and capable mentally to move from one position to the next.”
What’s next for Edmunds and the Bills is very much up in the air.
