Syracuse's Common Council has signed off on the 2024-2025 city budget.

Mayor Ben Walsh thanked the council on Monday, highlighting more money for the city's housing trust fund and its land bank.

There were some amendments, including a decision not to spend money on a study of union salaries.

"That was a surprise. We put it in the budget because we believe it's important," Walsh said. "We made that committment on behalf of the administration. I can't commit on behalf of the council, but on behalf of the administration, that that was something we were prepared to do, and we felt that the budget was the appropriate way to undertake that study."

Walsh said he'll review and respond to the amendments by May 20.
