Syracuse women's basketball standout Dyaisha Fair is joining the defending WNBA champions.

The Las Vegas Aces chose Fair, a guard who finished as the third-leading scorer in NCAA Division I history with 3,403 points, with the 16th pick in Monday night's WNBA Draft in New York.

Fair averaged 22.3 points per game in her final season with the Orange, which ended in the second round of the NCAA tournament. After transferring to Syracuse from Buffalo, Fair started all but two games in her Orange career, scoring 1,368 points to add to her 2,035 in three seasons at Buffalo.

Only Iowa's Caitlin Clark — chosen with the No. 1 pick Monday night by the Indiana Fever — and Washington's Kelsey Plum scored more points in Division I women's basketball than Fair.

Fair is the sixth Syracuse women's basketball player selected in the WNBA Draft, according to the university, and will be the second SU player active in the league, joining Washington's Brittney Sykes.

Kate Martin, who helped Iowa reach the NCAA title game for the second straight season and finished her career with 1,299 points, 756 rebounds and 473 assists, was selected 18th overall by the defending champions.

The league will open training camp on April 28 and the season starts May 14.

The Aces didn't have any picks in the first round, but made the most of three second-round choices.

The team closed out the round by drafting Virginia Tech’s Elizabeth Kitley, who is recovering from a torn ACL. She’s out for the season and showed up on crutches.
