AUSTIN, Texas – A man is in critical condition after he was attacked by a swarm of bees in south Travis County Thursday morning.

Austin/Travis County EMS was called to Farm to Market 1625 and Tunersville Road around 9:41 a.m. for a patient in cardiac arrest.

Crews were able to resuscitate the man at the scene.

He was transported to St. David’s South Austin Hospital for treatment.

Alamo Area Beekeepers Association President Rick Fink said May and June are the start of bee swarming season. Bees swarm when they begin to reproduce and new queen comes out of the hive.
