AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Disaster Relief Network is raising money and donations for victims of the Heartland tornadoes.

The tornadoes that swept through several states and devastated Kentucky left nearly 100 people dead as officials continue to search for victims.

ADRN is asking the community for monetary donations as well as donations in the forms of Survivor Care Kits and propane heaters. These care kits can consist of blankets, towels and hygiene items. They can be customized for men, women or children and include notes of encouragement.

Propane heaters are needed to help keep people warm, especially as temperatures drop and rescue and recovery efforts continue.

"Getting the basic necessities into survivors' hands makes a huge difference," said ADRN Executive Director Daniel Geraci. "It's the first step towards hope and recovery for people who've just been through probably the worst trauma of their lives. We want to get these essentials to our midwestern neighbors as soon as possible and let them know they're not alone in this crisis."

All donations can be dropped off Monday through Saturday at HDRN headquarters or the Hope Family Thrift Store at 1122 E. 51st Street, Austin between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

You can donate to relief fund created to gather resources for victims here. ADRN’s current goal is $100,000. The funds will also go toward rebuilding and restoring clean homes for those impacted.
