TEXAS — Who is going to make it to the November election? It’s up to Texas voters to decide today. You’ll decide on those races not resolved during the March primary. 

Voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday statewide.

How to vote

The first thing you need to do is to make sure you are registered to vote. You can do so here

In order to vote in person, you must have one of seven acceptable forms of ID. They are:

  • Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
  • Texas handgun license issued by DPS
  • United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
  • United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
  • United States passport (book or card)

If you don’t have any of the seven, you can present a supporting form of ID. They are:

  • Copy or original of a government document that shows the voter’s name and an address, including the voter’s voter registration certificate;
  • Copy of or original current utility bill;
  • Copy of or original bank statement;
  • Copy of or original government check;
  • Copy of or original paycheck; or
  • Copy of or original of (a) a certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter’s identity (which may include a foreign birth document).

Once you have presented supporting ID, you must execute a Reasonable Impediment Declaration. Check with your polling location for instructions.

Key Democratic Races

On the Democratic side, voters will decide on the state race for lieutenant governor between candidates Mike Collier and Michelle Beckley. Republican incumbent Dan Patrick won his primary.

Voters will choose between Democrats Jay Kleberg and Sandragrace Martinez for land commissioner.

Janet Dudding and Angel Luis Vega are squaring off to determine who will challenge incumbent Republican Comptroller Glenn Hegar in November.

Democrats Rochelle Garza and Joe Jaworski are vying to be the Democratic candidate for attorney general.

Key Republican Races

On the Republican side, the marquee matchup is between incumbent Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and challenger George P. Bush.

Republicans Tim Westley and Dawn Buckingham are squaring off in the runoff race for land commissioner.

Voters will choose between Republicans Sarah Stogner and Wayne Christian for railroad commissioner.

In addition, voters will decide on a number of U.S. House, Texas House and Texas Senate races. Among the more notable is the Democratic U.S. House race between incumbent Rep. Henry Cuellar and challenger Jessica Cisneros for Texas’ 28th Congressional District.
