UVALDE, Texas  — The Texas House Investigative Committee on the Robb Elementary School Shooting since June 9 has been hearing testimony on the May 24 massacre in Uvalde. Since testimony started, Uvalde Sheriff Ruben Nolasco has declined to participate.

On Wednesday, that refusal promoted a notice of deposition. That was announced by committee chairman and state Rep. Dustin Burrows, R-Lubbock.

However, on Thursday, Burrows announced he had received a phone call from Nolasco informing him he has agreed to appear at Monday's committee hearing voluntarily.

On the same day the notice of deposition was announced, an after-action report on the response of law enforcement was released.

Among other things, it says a police officer armed with a rifle watched the gunman walk toward campus but did not fire and that some of the 21 victims “could have been saved” if they had received medical attention sooner.
