WACO, Texas — Before Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was a three-time Super Bowl champion, he was hitting the gridiron at a northeast Texas high school.

This past weekend, Mahomes was inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame as a part of its 2025 class.

Mahomes, who graduated from Whitehouse High School and went on to play for Texas Tech, attended the induction ceremony on Saturday in Waco.

The likely Pro Football Hall of Famer posted a photo on Instagram about the honor, with the caption “Whitehouse, Texas is where it all began.”

In that same post, Mahomes announced he was giving back to the high school football community by signing 15 high schools to “Team Mahomes,” in partnership with adidas.

Mahomes' alma mater will be the first, and each high school will receive uniforms with Mahomes’ logo on it.

Other players inducted include:

  • Gary Keithley - Alvin High School
  • Pat Thomas - Plano High School
  • Brad Goebel - Cuero High School
  • John C. Norman - Robert E. Lee High School–Midland (recently renamed Legacy High School)
  • Robert Griffin III - Copperas Cove High School
