HOUSTON - Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Senator Ted Cruz addressed media on the state of Harvey relief on Friday.

Both politicians touted the recent Hurricane tax relief bill, which cuts federal taxes for victims of Harvey for 2017, and $36 billion dollars in federal funding to aid recovery efforts.

Senator Cruz praised bipartisan efforts to help Texans in need.

"The entire country took a hard hit with three major hurricanes within a period of weeks, and we need to continue the bipartisan cooperation," said Cruz. "I've been very closely with Governor Abbott and state officials to quantify the damage, and closely with the mayor's office to quantify the damage here in the city of Houston."

Cruz hopes that Democrats and Republicans can continue to work together to ensure help for hurricane victims.
