A racially-offensive picture is circulating on social media.
The word "colored" was found plastered above a water fountain in a residence dorm at UNC Charlotte.
The university began an investigation into the sign Wednesday, initially unsure if the photo was actually taken on campus.
Late Thursday, they confirmed the picture does show a campus fountain and that surveillance footage is being checked.
Some students say they believe whoever did it knew what they were doing.
University officials say the sign was posted in Holshouser Hall and that theyare still looking for the person responsible.
