Ty Solomon went into cardiac arrest on Dec. 2, 2017 while he was sitting on the bench.

He says he remembers putting his head in his hands and then waking up looking up at the lights once he was revived.

During an event, "Code: Celebrate!" at Reynold's Coliseum Tuesday night, Solomon had the chance to see some of the first responders and the other people they've helped in the past.

Wake EMS says they helped save 120 people in cardiac arrest last year.

Solomon's coach Murray Garvin says you never plan for adversity like that.

“You can’t take life for granted, days are not promised, it’s changed the way that I coach, it’s changed the way that I live. And again it’s about giving back and impacting others," said Garvin.

Solomon simply thanks the first responders, “Perfect timing, thank you for being there and that’s why I love you guys.”

Wake County EMS says they responded to about 103,000 calls for service last year.
