What You Need To Know

  • The Albemarle Music Store has a hidden gem
  • There is a model train display that brings many people in to view
  • It was started by Jimmy Brown

All aboard, as we take you down the track of childhood nostalgia.

Upstairs at the Albemarle Music Store, you’ll discover a world of model trains collected over the years.

Every holiday season, it brings out hundreds just to see it.

“Every year at Christmas people come down after the Christmas parade or after downtown Christmas in Albemarle, and they come down here to look at the trains,” said Buddy Efird, one of the volunteers with the trains. “And they are lined up down the street to come in the door to see it."

It was all started by Jimmy Brown, who passed away in 2010.

The store opened in 1925 and moved to its current location in 1928.

For almost 100 years, the store has served the community, but it was Jimmy who started the train display.

You can check the Albemarle Music Store Facebook page or call (704) 982-3815 to find out when the trains are running.
