The Heatly School in Green Island will move to remote learning for all high school students starting Friday "to address the series of physical altercations at the high school," Superintendent Kimberly Ross announced on the school website.

She said all students in grades nine through 12 will learn remotely until Feb. 18.

The school will hold a forum for all Green Island Union Free School District parents and guardians from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. Face masks are required.

"It is my hope that by working together to address the challenges our students are facing, we can move forward and model civility for our children," Ross stated.

The district will release additional information on Friday, she said.
