A busy shopping evening was disrupted Tuesday after a fire broke out at Destiny USA in Syracuse.

According to the Syracuse Fire Department, crews were working a fire on the roof of the building above the Cheesecake Factory a little before 7 p.m. More tha 50 firefighters were brought to the scene in total.

Smoke could be seen billowing above the east side of the mall.

Mall security was asked to evacuate everyone from the building.

Once on the roof, firefighters found a large area of roofing material on fire, the department said. The blaze was extinguished after 45 minutes.

Firefighters said there was some light smoke inside the mall itself, but the bulk of the damage appears limited to the roof.

There were no injuries reported.
