Early voting began Saturday for several primaries across New York state.

There are several mayoral contests Spectrum News 1 is keeping an eye on including Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo.

There are currently six Democrats vying to be the next mayor of the city of Buffalo. Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon, state Sen. Sean Ryan, Common Council Member Rasheed Wyatt, former Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield, Michael Gainer, the founder of Buffalo ReUse, and Anthony Tyson Thompson, who said he has worked as community organizer, nonprofit leader and communications director in the New York State Assembly.

There are three candidates facing off in the Democratic primary in the city of Rochester’s mayoral race, including Mayor Malik Evans, businessman Shashi Sinha and Mary Lupien, a Rochester City Council member of five years.

In Syracuse, Common Councilor Pat Hogan, Common Councilor Chol Majok and Deputy Mayor Sharon Owens are the Democratic mayoral candidates.

As Mayor Kathy Sheehan winds down what will be a 12-year tenure, four Democratic candidates are eying Albany City Hall’s top office. Dorcey Applyrs, Dan Cerutti and Corey Ellis and Carolyn McLaughlin are running for mayor of Albany.

Check your local Board of Elections for specific times and locations of polling places.

Early voting goes until June 22. 

Primary Election Day is June 24.
