TEXAS — Feeling withdrawals from the Puppy Bowl?
Well, you’re in luck because the NHL announced that alongside Petco Love, the first annual "Stanley Pup".
Every NHL team will have a furry representative, and these adorable creatures can be adopted from shelters or rescue groups in their respective cities.
The Dallas Stars’ dog is Joe Pawvelski. The pup is a Shepard Mix from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue.
The game will feature special appearances by Kristin Chenoweth, Mickey Guyton and Miranda Lambert.
NHL Chief Content Officer Steve Mayer said, “At the NHL, we love supporting great causes and the opportunity to produce a program that finds homes for rescue dogs is so fulfilling, the show promises to be great fun and we can’t wait for our participating puppies Nathan McKibble, Joe Pawvelski, Alexander O-fetch-kin and many more hit our Stanley Pup rink.”
Petco Love President Susanne Kogut added that “We are honored that the NHL will spotlight these all-star pups. Everyone can be a champion in the life of a pet. When you adopt a pet from your local shelter, everyone wins!”
