CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Starting Friday, August 13, anyone entering city government buildings in Charlotte will be required to wear a mask while inside, regardless of vaccination status.

The City of Charlotte made the announcement Thursday. The requirement applies to all city employees, contractors, members of the public and media members.

City officials say the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center, which is also included in the new mandate, is still closed to the public.

Exceptions for the closure include public meetings held by Charlotte City Council, the Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board of Education.
