Cornell and Syracuse will each play Saturday for berths in the NCAA Division I men's lacrosse semifinals.

The Big Red and the Orange each won first-round NCAA tournament games Sunday — Cornell, the tournament's top seed, downing UAlbany 15-6, and Syracuse, the No. 6 seed, staging a furious comeback to hold off Harvard 13-12 in overtime.

Syracuse (12-5) was down by as many as five goals in the fourth quarter before rallying to take its first lead with 3:32 left in regulation. Harvard, however, would tie the score with 6 seconds left, setting up Owen Hiltz's winning goal on Syracuse's first OT possession.

Luke Rhoa scored four goals for the Orange, who move on to a quarterfinal matchup with No. 3 seed Princeton at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Trey Deere added two more goals for the victors.

In Ithaca, meanwhile, the top-ranked Big Red (15-1) kept rolling, stifling the UAlbany attack while getting six goals from senior CJ Kirst in the victory. Silas Richmond scored two goals for UAlbany (10-9).

Cornell will next meet Richmond at noon Saturday on Long Island. The teams have met this season, with the Big Red rallying past Richmond 12-11 in early March.
